Who We Are & What We Do
The Doermer Family Foundation is a private charitable foundation founded in 1994 by Richard T. and Mary Louise Doermer with the primary intent of supporting education and other charitable causes in the Fort Wayne/Allen County, Indiana area. The Doermers felt strongly about supporting the community that had provided them the opportunities to establish successful businesses, raise a family and engage in the community they so loved.
While favoring organizations that provide education or further educational goals, the Foundation has also supported economic development projects in various parts of Allen County. The second and third generations of the Doermer family continue the founders' tradition of philanthropy and commitment to community. The Foundation is administered by its board of directors.
To be considered for a grant, applicants must be a 501(C)(3) organization as recognized by the Internal Revenue Service and must be domiciled in Fort Wayne or Allen County, Indiana, serving area residents. Applicants must have been in operation for at least five years. In addition, services must be provided regardless of race, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual preference and/or gender identity.
